Is it normal for diamond doves to be doing this?

I just got 2 diamond doves two days ago. They constantly pick out their feathers, is this a bad sign? Also I got a 14 day guarantee on them. Would it be worth it to get a ringneck dove instead? I heard the like to be held more, is that true? If it isn't I'm not getting rid of them. If you find they don't stop then I would get the ringnecks. Its odd that they are doing it so early.
