And when you are born; what you encounter ( anything you see and or have contact with) will shape the way you think, feel, and ultimately become. How do emotional or psychological problems develop in children?
Hardly just environment. Each individual interprets their environment differently. Two children growing up in the same household can be completely different in how they handle life's events. Twins separated at birth living in different households are remarkably similar. so, genetics too play a role.

How do emotional or psychological problems develop in children?Your asking a nature vs. nurture question which many researchers still study today. You can have your own believes on this because I dont think theres one simple answer to it.
My belief is that biological factors and evironmental factors affect development just as equally.
A child who is neglected or abused in some way may later have psychological problems. Or a child who has a family history of psychological problems may carry the trait despite their upbrininging. This is a very broad question...How do emotional or psychological problems develop in children?
The books written on this subject could fill the library of Congress to overflowing. But if you want to do some research, try these subjects: Epigenetics, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Piaget's study of childhood development. That will steer you in the right direction, anyway. How do emotional or psychological problems develop in children?Assuming that the child has favorable heredity , he or she would only develop emotional or psychological problems if their environmental upbringing is bad and even detrimental . Those children who were not brought up and reared in an atmosphere of love and affection are likely to have disturbed personalities when they become adults . And their situation gets worse if their parents don't have a harmonious relationship to the extent that they become separated or divorced . As a result , these children become embittered and also discouraged because of their parents' negative influence and example . It is not uncommon that many of these children become neurotic or psychotic individuals in later life . Other factors that may play in the child's abnormal development are undesirable physical characteristics or even some kind of deformity which can make them feel inferior and lacking in self - confidence and self -esteem . And although their parents may be living together and try to give them the best of what they can possibly provide , if such parents are not knowledgeable enough of the proper ways of rearing them , like being overprotective or controlling , or being over -permissive , or if they lack the basic psychological techniques in handling and influencing their children , these factors would negatively affect their normal growth and development . Another important factor which is often overlooked is the role of nutrition . Obviously , a child who hasn't been fed properly with nourishing foods would be physiologically , if not psychologically , affected as to prevent their full growth and development into mature , happy and well -adjusted adults . One other factor worth mentioning is the current peace and order situation in the neighborhood , or for that matter , the country in which they live . If , for example , the country is , say , war -torn , then they would also be negatively affected . These are some of the more salient points to be considered why children have emotional or psychological problems . Thus , we see that the young and tender minds of children are to be " handled with care " , and as such , it requires a considerable amount of effort , knowledge and even love and understanding on the part of their parents and other guardians to raise a child into a well -balanced individual .
