This really depends on what we're looking at. In terms of carbonation and global warming, deforestation is the biggest environmental damager. It removes CO2-filtering trees from the environment, and many times the process of deforestation (gas-powered equipment, burning, razing) generates even more CO2.
The other culprit would likely be industrial farming. Industrial farming, like deforestation, tends to clear out a lot of natural vegetation from an area. The soil is then stripped of its nutrients, requiring heavy fertilizers to keep the crops going. Pesticides and herbicides add to the problem, poisoning the soil and the water for miles and miles.
