Has organic chemistry caused problems?

Does anyone know of an incident in which organic chemistry has caused severe health or environmental problems. How were these problems fixed?

An example of the sort of thing I'm looking for is the damage to the ozone layer caused by CFC's - the gases used in early refragerators.
