What can we do to solve the environmental problem?

In my opinion, it would be to not have children. If the population were half what it is now, we would need only half the resources, cause half the pollution and use half the land. The problem is convincing everyone in the world to not have children, or at least fewer children. It does no good at all if you have none but 10 other people have 5 each.

BTW, I have 2 children, so I am not taking my own advice. What can we do to solve the environmental problem?Quit shopping. Every piece of plastic that has ever been made is still on the planet. We don't need all this junk! What can we do to solve the environmental problem?the first one is wrong because we have such good health care in this MEDC countries people are living longer and that means that children will have to pay more for the service old people need like meals on wheels and stuff like that, so the less children there are the more momney people have to pay.. lol i am saying this because i got taught about it at school today lol so thought i would share it with you :D !!What can we do to solve the environmental problem? It requires a shift in human society from the current pre-eminent unsustainable industrial growth model to a life sustaining paradigm ( there is no wealth but Life, John Ruskin). the knowledge, technologies and economic systems are available to us if we choose to use them. The key is for people to realise they are not separate from their environmental support systems, but need them for their own quality of life.

this shift is sometimes termed the great turning see www.greatturningtimes.org - comprising 3 strands:

- Campaigns and acts of protest to counter the destruction

- Building positive alternatives and sustainable ways of living

- A deeper shift in values, thinking and culture to support this
