If plastic bags are such an environmental problem, why aren鈥檛 they banned?

Ask the environmentally unconscious politicians that were elected by environmentally unconscious voters.Because most people think only about short term satisfaction of their own needs and not the needs of the environment. It is not the plastic bags that are the problem. It is the mans lack of environmental consciousness that results in plastic bags being thrown by the side of the road instead of reused and/or recycled. It is the humans, and human stupidity, that are the environmental problem. We should all do our part and recycle plastic bags and/or stop buying them and using the ones we have already at home.If plastic bags are such an environmental problem, why aren鈥檛 they banned?can not carry groceries by hand, friend. If plastic bags are such an environmental problem, why aren鈥檛 they banned?
They will be.If plastic bags are such an environmental problem, why aren鈥檛 they banned?Stores should start using more paper bags or reusuable canvas bags. There are times in a store that I get one thing and wonder why I even need a bag. They should not be so commonplace but they are. People need to be more careful and try to reuse and recycle the plastic bags, because I doubt there would ever be enough support for banning them.If plastic bags are such an environmental problem, why aren鈥檛 they banned?
Because too many stupids rule. But today I had a aleluja experience i had today at a supermarket he asked do you want me to put all this in your bag And I said yes.put it into my bag.All you need to do is ask.If plastic bags are such an environmental problem, why aren鈥檛 they banned? In Europe, they charge for plastic bags, so everybody just uses reusable bags.

They are not banned now because, the government does not care about the environment as they should. Also, it seems that stores think that it helps them financially to use plastic bags rather than reusable ones.
because we are so dependent on them...

try looking it up on googleIf plastic bags are such an environmental problem, why aren鈥檛 they banned?
Because people are lazy.
Because the malt-o-meal cereal would spill all over the floor. Is that what you want?? cereal on the floor? If plastic bags are such an environmental problem, why aren鈥檛 they banned?
You can apply that logic to a huge amount of problems, culture really. We are just given products without proper future planning or thinking of consequences. Just how things work, unfortunately.
In India, many of the state governments/local municipal corporations have ordered ban on plastic bags of thickness less than 20 microns and schedule of punishment for violation of ban in several ways. But it is not strictly implemented or watched perhaps due to non commitment of administrative set up. Further, strict implementation of the ban may attract dissatisfaction of the people because necessary awareness among the people on the ill effects of plastic bags have not yet developed and people are much in adoption of plastic bags usage in their daily life.

The only thing, I think possible, is to make the people to say 'No' to plastic bags while they are provided by the merchant establishments to carry their purchases. This will definitely reduce the demand for plastic bags and ultimately curtail manufacturing of plastic bags.

It may not be necessary to ban plastic bags which are recyclable as total ban on plastic bags will not be successful as it had already infiltrated into our daily life to a large extent.
in some countries they are banned, some stores charge for them to encourage people to bring their own more and more countries and even some cities are looking at banning them
