Which of the following major environmental problem(s) is/are caused by man's increased use of fossil fuels?

a. the destruction of the ozone layer

b gradual global warming

c acid rain

d all of the aboveWhich of the following major environmental problem(s) is/are caused by man's increased use of fossil fuels? All the three as detailed below.

a)Destruction of ozone layer-Ozone is mainly broken down by chemicals like ChloroFluoroCarbons CFC's and by nitrogen oxides. Nitrogen oxides are a by-product of fossil fuel burning in vehicles and air crafts and released through vehicle and aircraft exhausts.

b)Global warming-The burning of fossil fuels produces billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide which the atmosphere can not absorb fully by natural processes causing the proportion of Carbon dioxide in atmosphere to increase. This being one of the greenhouse gases that enhances radiative forcing contributes to global warming, causing the average surface temperature of the Earth to rise in response leading to adverse effects on climate.

c) Acid rain-Combustion of fossil fuels generates sulfuric, carbonic, and nitric acids, which fall to Earth as acid rain, impacting both natural areas and the built environment.
