Just wondering what people's opinions are about this....
Do you think a heart shaped diamond is more romantic and elegant or tacky and cliche'?Are heart shaped diamond engagement rings considered tacky?I am not a huge fan of them personally and in 7 months of working at a jewelry store can actually say I have never sold a heart engagement ring. I think people want something a bit more elegant and traditional and a heart maybe denotes a bit more promise ring than engagement. Are heart shaped diamond engagement rings considered tacky?
I think it really depends, but generally I do not like the way they look. Heart shaped earrings or a necklace, however, are very beautiful. I think for an engagement ring it is best to stick with a traditional shape. However, it is up to the engaged couple, and it would be even tackier for someone to say something negative about the ring. Are heart shaped diamond engagement rings considered tacky?I think, just as with any other rings, it's still the style which matters more.
Some are quite beautiful -
A set like this is lovely -

A solitaire heart is also nice, but you'd have to watch what type of band would fit/match with it.

my husband gave me a heart shaped sapphire engagement ring.
1) I am not a diamond girl. I am a sapphire girl. Plus #1.
2) Heart shaped he said showed more "love" than a traditional typical ring any girl can get. Plus #2
3). The ring was custom designed and very particular. So he wasn't just going in a store and 10 mins being out. Plus #3.
So, honestly, if a guy takes the time, money and also knowledge into buying a ring, it doesn't matter what type of ring it is because it comes with "thought" and "meaning".Are heart shaped diamond engagement rings considered tacky?I think it's sweet. Actually my fiance was considering getting me a heart shaped one because he thought it was romantic. He asked a friend for her opinion on the idea and she advised him to go with the shape that I had already told him I loved (princess). So that's what he ended up getting. But I hadn't ever considered a heart shape, and honestly, I hadn't even ever seen one! If I had known, I probably would have loved it. And loved it even more because he picked it thinking it was romantic. Just that extra thought on his part would have made it absolutely perfect. Although I absolutely love the one I got too! :)
I don't think they're cliche at all since I really haven't seen that many either in person or in pictures. I wouldn't call it tacky but the cut of any stone is personal preference. I don't care for them myself because I don't like diamonds, period, but heart shapes don't have the same sparkle that other cuts do.Are heart shaped diamond engagement rings considered tacky?
My 50 year old girlfriend has a heart shaped diamond as her engagement ring. Think about what it would look like on you at any age.
Since you asked my opinion, I think heart shaped diamonds are tacky.
If you really like it, get a fake one first and see if you like wearing it. If it makes you happy, who cars what other people think.
They are around for so long and will stay. It is a matter of personal taste I think. Big sizes are generating still high prices in the market as when you cut the heart you usually lose more of the rough than with other fancy shapes. So, just go for it if you love the heart !Are heart shaped diamond engagement rings considered tacky?
Well to some people yes, but the main thing in whole story is whether you like them or not, because it's your choice, not ours. If I were the one choosing I would choose emerald cut http://engagement-diamond-rings.blogspot…
but like I said this is your decision in the end. Choose what you find the most beautiful no matter what other people think.
My Husband bought me a heart shaped engagement band. I actually picked it out. I wanted the heart shape because it meant to me love. His heart is always with me. I by far do not consider my wedding set tacking, juvenile or any other words that words being used. I love my set and would not trade it for the world.
for me it's not my kind of style i would pick and wear. i think in my opinion that heart shapes are cute for teenagers or promise rings but for an engagement ring i don't care so much for.
for some people that's their kind of thing and that's ok with me just as long as the two love each other.
Hi,
diamond shape and size is very personally, if the lady like it, that what count.hart shape diamond should be chipper than round diamond. round diamond is the most sparky of all the shapes. you can come and see with your owen eyes at diamonds of palo alto diamonds@diamondsofpaloalto.com

I don't think it's romantic and elegant, but I wouldn't call it tacky, since I hate the overuse of that word in this forum.
I do think they are a little childish, I wouldn't look at one and think it was an engagement ring.
Shapes of rings cannot really be classified as "tacky". They are a personal preference. A friend of mine has a heart shaped engagement ring, and while it is not something I would choose for myself, it is a nice ring.
There is NO such thing as a tacky shaped diamond....jeeze folks, it's a DIAMOND!......
I love all the shapes, including heart....it's just a matter of personal preferance.
So you want a heart shaped diamond? Go for it. good luck.
Eh... It's definitely not something I'd pick out, but I think a solitaire heart would be fine. Not one with a bunch of diamonds around it though, I think it would be too much.
Something like this:

I believe an engagement ring is very personal and as long as it suits the wearer it is not tacky regardless of the style.
YES! I have made it a point to not include hearts anywhere in my wedding. I think that they are so cliche for a wedding/engagement.
I don't see how a diamond ring of any shape could be considered tacky.
I do not like them myself, but if someone else does, I wouldn't judge them for it. Everyone has different tastes in shapes of stones... I just don't happen to like hearts.
Aww, everybody seems to hate them, but I'm not opposed to them!
I like diamonds in unusual shapes so no. Down to personal preference.
Yes. Oh how I hate them. Very tacky.
To me, it looks juvenile.
wow i would love a heart shaped diamond ring. as long as its real it shouldnt matter
YES
